Be careful when looking at smaller mixers as they may not have an I/O configuration that matches your needs. I think the SQ line is better given higher quality preamps (not your use case unless you start adding other physical devices to the mixer, say background music or other inputs) and the 96k pipeline. I mention these two as I am very familiar with both. There are certainly other mixers that could fit the bill. Many USB devices run fine at further distances, audio over USB is generally does not. You will be limited by a 5 meters cable length, per spec. The SQ line has this included and, from what I can tell, the X32 Producer comes with the USB IO option card that allows it. This is nice if you already have an Ethernet network (gigabit preferably) as it allows you to cheaply locate your mixer in a station separate from your video tech if that is of use to you.Īlternatively, most digital mixers (and some analog mixers) have the option for a 32x32 USB signal path. The Allen & Heath SQ-5 or the Behringer X32 both have Dante IO modules. As already mentioned, a Dante enabled mixer is one way to go. As you've probably already found out using your AKAI, interfacing in a "good" way is difficult and time consuming and still leaves much to be desired.įortunately, you have options. First, I would walk away from the vMix mixer as a method of managing your audio. There are many solutions to this, some better than others, and all very much dependent on budget.
